Austria: More Water Power in First Three Quarters
of 2000
According to the Austrian magazine "Standard" water power
production has increased slightly this year. In the first three quarters
of this year, 33,175 GWh of water power were produced. This means an increase
of 1.3% as compared to the same time span in 1999 which is due to a larger
water supply. Simultaneously, power consumption increased by 3.7% (1,532
GWh) to 3.038 GWh in the first 9 months of 2000. A higher demand for power
in the winter months is made responsible for that. (iwr)
